Final examination [Bachelor’s]

Final examination

The aim of the final examination of the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Mathematics is to assess the student’s ability to study a topic independently, closely connected with the educational activities of the Degree Programme, and to present it in public clearly and concisely. To this end, the final dissertation is a compilation work, typically structured as a report, centred on a specific, well-contextualised topic (e.g. a chapter of a textbook, a scientific article, the use of a software package). This work is normally carried out over a period of at most 3 months, assuming a full-time commitment, is limited to 30 pages, and must be carried out under the supervision of a supervisor assigned by the Teaching Coordination Committee. The final mark is expressed out of 110, with possible award of honours (lode), and is determined taking into account both the student’s academic record and the discussion of the dissertation.
